In a major boost for our local health services, the NSW Government is spending $124 million over the next two years to deliver 25 Urgent Care Services across the state.
Since we were elected in 2023, over 100,000 patients have used our Urgent Care Services.
This includes the recently opened free Urgent Care Service in Carlton.
The service will treat a range of illnesses and injuries that are deemed urgent, but not life-threatening.
What this means for you and your family is faster access to high quality healthcare, while avoiding unnecessary trips to the hospital.
These new clinics will also make healthcare more accessible to residents and take pressure off our busy emergency departments.
NSW Labor has a clear focus - to manage our finances responsibly so we can provide support when you need it most, while improving the essential services that we all rely on, now and into the future.
That is why we have invested more than $200 million to reduce overdue surgeries, allocating funding towards fast tracking planned surgeries and boosting hospital capacity to ensure planned surgeries can be delivered on time.
We are already seeing positive results, with the elective surgery waiting list (people waiting longer than clinically recommended) falling from over 14,000 in March 2023 to under 4,000 as at September 2024.
We have saved 1,112 nursing jobs, delivered record pay increases for our nurses to improve recruitment and retention rates, and begun the roll out of 500 additional paramedics.
As Premier, I want to send a message to the people of NSW that we will do everything we can to deliver the best possible health care for you and your family.
