The people of NSW deserve to walk through the doors of their local hospital and receive affordable, quality healthcare.
We've seen patients waiting too long for critical care, staff under pressure, and people not getting the care they deserve.
That's why my Government is taking action to build better essential services for the people of NSW.
To support our hospitals, we've invested more than $200 million to reduce overdue surgeries, saved 1,112 nursing jobs, delivered record pay increases for our nurses, and are rolling out 500 additional paramedics.
As part of this plan, we are funding twenty-five more Urgent Care Services across the state over the next two years.
This comes alongside our St George Hospital and Canterbury Hospital redevelopment which are crucial additions to healthcare services for our growing local community.
As a result of these changes, we've more than halved the elective surgery waiting list - from 17,000 in December 2022 before we came into office to 6,800 in December last year.
We have also improved the transfer of patients from paramedics to emergency staff at St George Hospital within a 30 minute window by 25 per cent.
Over the last two years, we have made a lot of progress, but we know there's still much more to do.
This month NSW Labor has introduced Joe's Law that will ban any future government from privatising acute public hospitals in our state.
As a Labor Government, we believe critical public services like acute hospitals should remain in public hands, safeguarded from privatisation.
We will continue working every day to ensure you and your family receive the best possible care.
