In March 2025, we reached an agreement with the Commonwealth to fully and fairly fund New South Wales public schools.

Over the next 10 years, we have ensured an estimated $4.8 billion in additional funding to our public schools.

This is the biggest ever investment in the history of New South Wales public education.

After 12 years of the previous Liberal Government, the NSW education system was in crisis.

NSW Labor is working every day to get our education system back on track.

Since coming to office in March 2023, my Government has:

  • Reduced teacher vacancies by 40%
  • Increased teacher salaries, so we can both attract and retain them to ensure your child sees the same teacher every day
  • Made 16,000 temporary teachers permanent
  • We have already halved the number of cancelled and merged classes
  • There are now more than 2000 extra teachers in our classrooms
  • We've invested a record $8.9 billion for new and upgraded schools across NSW, including Kogarah Public School

We now have fewer collapsed classes, more one-on-one attention for students, and half a million hours of lost learning recovered.

These investments are essential to lift education standards across the state by ensuring there is a qualified, dedicated teacher at the front of the classroom, so every child can get a world-class education and the best possible start in life.

As Premier, I am doing everything I can to ensure that our children get a world-class education and the best possible start in life.
