Before the State election, I made a promise to the people of NSW to provide cost of living relief and ease the pressure on families and businesses.
I have heard from people right across NSW who are doing it tough, struggling to pay rent and meet their grocery bills and energy bills.
My Government has listened and now we are taking immediate action by delivering cost of living relief to NSW households and small businesses.
Eligible households in NSW will receive a $500 energy rebate on their power bills in the coming financial year, while eligible small businesses will be able to access a $650 rebate.
This means more than 1.6 million households and 300,000 small businesses will save on their energy bills.
The targeted scheme will deliver effective and immediate energy bill relief, without onerous application processes or the requirement to apply online. Instead, the rebates will be applied automatically to energy bills.
Today’s announcement combined with limits on coal and gas prices, will put downward pressure on inflation, helping families and small businesses to better balance their budget.
This is a responsible but meaningful step to help ease the pressure on families and businesses.
I want to assure the people of NSW, that this is just the start of my plan to reduce the cost of living for families, households and small businesses.
As Premier of NSW, I am committed to delivering long-term cost of living relief and ensuring that small business can continue to thrive in our State.
Yours sincerely,
The Hon. Chris Minns MP
Premier of New South Wales
