A Fresh Start - Our First 100 Days

By The Hon. Chris Minns MP

30 June 2023

In our first 100 days the Minns Labor Government is getting on with the job of delivering for the people of New South Wales.

I was elected on the promise to rebuild health and education in NSW and put people back at the heart of government.

Since being elected on 25 March 2023, my government and I have worked tirelessly to make our state better.

We have delivered the biggest pay rise to NSW public sector workers in over a decade and begun the transition to safe staffing levels in our hospitals.

These are just the first steps to resolving the state’s essential worker crisis after 12 years of neglect from the previous government.

We promised to transfer 16,000 temporary teachers and support staff to permanent contracts. We have made significant progress delivering on this promise with 7,000 teachers and support already accepting permanent contracts.

On top of this, we have significantly reduced the amount of administrative work teachers have to do, allowing them to spend more time in the classroom doing what they do best - teaching our kids.

The NSW Government has also protected publicly owned assets including Sydney Water in the constitution and taken significant steps to reduce the impact of energy price increases.

I understand that many of you are struggling under the stress of purchasing your first home.

That is why we have made it easier for first home buyers to enter the housing market while making serious reforms to planning to deliver more quality homes.

In just 100 days we have made good progress, but there is a lot more to do.

I want to assure the people of NSW that this is just the start and as your Premier, I will continue to work hard to deliver for you and our state.

Yours sincerely,

The Hon. Chris Minns MP
