Families and households across our state are doing it tough right now.
A major contributor to this is the cost of energy. Electricity and gas bills are one of the largest expenses for most households.
After 12 years of delay under the previous Liberal Government, the Minns Labor Government has got the NSW energy transition back on track.
Premier Chris Minns has introduced a new Climate Change Act 2023 to enshrine emission reduction targets into law and deliver more affordable, cleaner and sustainable energy.
The people of NSW expect their Government to take action on climate change and put downward pressure on household electricity bills.
This is exactly what the Minns Labor Government is doing.
We are providing $500 worth of energy rebates for more than 1.6 million households and 300,000 small businesses.
We are working hard to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and continue the transformation of our energy system to renewables.
We are helping households upgrade their homes to be more energy efficient and cheaper to run.
At the same time, I understand the need to protect and preserve our national environment.
Our local parks are so important to our quality of life and wellbeing. They provide us with the perfect opportunity to get outside and interact with the world.
That is why I am investing $11.8 million to fix Kempt Field in Hurstville. This park and adventure playground serves as a rare open space for the St George community to enjoy.
For years the former Liberal Government refused to fix Kempt Field, claiming it was not their responsibility.
Now, I am taking the necessary steps to ensure it can be safely reopened to the public.
On top of this, I have expanded the Wolli Creek Regional Park to create 5 more hectares of open green space for local families.
This will make Wolli Creek Regional Park one of the largest parks in Sydney and ensure that it is preserved for future generations to enjoy.
At a time where green space is fast disappearing, only the Minns Labor Government is committed to turning this around.
Yours sincerely,
The Hon. Chris Minns MP
Premier of New South Wales
